Manufacturer Description

A group of friends (Michelle Rodriguez, Taryn Manning, Hill Harper and Oliver Hudson) fly away to a deserted island for the weekend, an island as soon as controlled by an unique canine research study system. They quickly understand that this lovely getaway will become their most significant headache. Inspired by the horror classics, Cujo and The Birds. The Breed takes you into the jaws of a flesh consuming pack of wild pet dogs, genetically engineered to hunt and kill. Surpassed and trapped they have a hard time to outmaneuver and outrun this frightening species.Wes Craven acted as
executive manufacturer on this direct-to-video chiller about a group of friends who find that the remote island they've picked as a vacation spot is home to a wild pack of guard dog. After dispatching a sailboater and his bikini-clad partner, the dogs(which look more cuddly than relentless)choose off the interloping friends with all-too-human shrewd; the survivors have just adequate time to find that the pooches are the item of military genetic experiments to produce unstoppable guard dog. Director Nick Mastrandrea(a longtime production associate of both Craven and George Romero)provides an expert look to his debut function, and gets decent performances from his cast( that includes Lost's Michelle Rodriguez, Taryn Manning, and Oliver Hudson ), but the script is tired virtually from page one, and the resulting action and gore do little to aid this indie picture stick out from the rest of the horror crowd. Pet dog enthusiasts with soft hearts must be forewarned that the CGI stand-ins for the animal actors endure some gruesome abuse in the course of the picture.---Paul Gaita
